Close-Grip Dumbbell Press

Dumbbell Triceps

The Close-Grip Dumbbell Press is a strength movement that targets your triceps. Here's how to do it with clean form.

How to do the Close-Grip Dumbbell Press

  1. Lie flat on a bench and hold the dumbbells pressed together, palms facing each other, over your chest.
  2. Lower the dumbbells to your chest with elbows tucked, keeping the weights in contact.
  3. Press back to the start, maintaining contact between the dumbbells throughout.
  4. Don't let the weights drift apart — the close position is what loads the triceps.
