Press Sit-Up

Barbell Abdominals

The Press Sit-Up is a strength movement that targets your abdominals. Here's how to do it with clean form.

How to do the Press Sit-Up

  1. Lie on your back with knees bent, holding the barbell at chest level with a shoulder-width grip.
  2. Initiate the sit-up and press the bar overhead as you rise, so it's fully extended at the top.
  3. Lower the bar back to your chest as you descend with control.
  4. Keep the core braced throughout—don't hyperextend the lower back at the top.
