Smith Machine Reverse Calf Raises

Machine Calves

The Smith Machine Reverse Calf Raises is a strength movement that targets your calves. Here's how to do it with clean form.

How to do the Smith Machine Reverse Calf Raises

  1. Stand with your heels on a low plate or step, toes hanging off, and the bar resting lightly across your hips or lower quads.
  2. Dorsiflex by lifting your toes as high as possible, contracting the tibialis anterior.
  3. Lower slowly until toes point toward the floor, achieving a full stretch.
  4. Keep movement isolated to the ankle — don't rock at the hip.
