Sumo Deadlift with Bands

Barbell Hamstrings

The Sumo Deadlift with Bands is a powerlifting movement that targets your hamstrings. Here's how to do it with clean form.

How to do the Sumo Deadlift with Bands

  1. Set up the bands under the plates or around the bar so tension increases as you rise.
  2. Take your sumo stance, grip inside your legs, and build full-body tension before initiating the pull.
  3. Accelerate through the entire lift — the bands punish any deceleration at the top.
  4. Control the descent as band tension reverses and pulls the bar down faster than a straight bar would.
