Hyperextensions (Back Extensions)

Other Lower Back

The Hyperextensions (Back Extensions) is a strength movement that targets your lower back. Here's how to do it with clean form.

How to do the Hyperextensions (Back Extensions)

  1. Position yourself face-down on the hyperextension bench with your hips at the pad edge and ankles hooked under the supports.
  2. Cross your arms over your chest or hold a weight plate to add resistance.
  3. Lower your torso in a controlled arc until you feel a stretch in your hamstrings.
  4. Raise back up to parallel with the floor—stop there; do not hyperextend the spine.
